Karen Dyer, executive director of the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), gave an upbeat tourism update report on Thursday morning at the convention center, addressing 75 industry partners including restauranteurs and hoteliers.

Terre Haute’s Turn to the River Project will break ground this fall to create a new public space linking downtown and the Wabash River+ local partners have secured funding that avoids tax dollars.

The project is expected to open to the public by next year.

Federal Coffee will close Sunday and a new coffee shop, Max’s Brewhouse — named in honor of Max Ehrmann who wrote 'Desiderata' — will soon replace it at the same location, the business announced Wednesday via its new Facebook page.
