  • Vigo County officials reverse a prior decision to close local group homes for children, now planning to expand services and improve facilities in collaboration with the State of Indiana Department of Child Services.  WTHI-TV
  • Vigo County commissioners have approved a $1 million contract with Strode Construction for a new facility at Griffin Bike Park, which will include a pro shop, office space, and a community area, despite being slightly over budget.  Tribune-Star

  • The Terre Haute Fire Department is investigating a vacant house fire on North 10th Street, resulting in minor damage and no injuries.  Tribune-Star

CRIME NEWS

  • Terre Haute police are investigating a report of shots fired on South Center Street, with no information released about injuries.  Tribune-Star

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Barbotics, a downtown Terre Haute arcade bar, will undergo major upgrades including more comfortable seating and an expanded menu, thanks to nearly $60K in grant funding from the United Way.  WTHI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Vigo County Parks and Recreation opens Fowler and Hawthorn Parks for Christmas tree recycling to repurpose them as aquatic habitats.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Lost Creek Fire Protection District will now handle emergency calls in Nevins Township, Vigo County, with no extra tax cost to residents, after local commissioners approved the service shift due to staffing and financial issues at the local fire department.  WTHI-TV
