  • Terre Haute teen Owen Farnsworth is continuing his eighth year holiday tradition by delivering 18 handmade tote bags (with books, activities, and surprises) to kids at Union Hospital. He hopes the gesture brings cheer to hospitalized children and their families this season.  WTHI-TV
  • Ouabache Valley Felines and Friends, operating for nearly 13 years, rescued 27 cats housed in a car for four days with two homeless individuals on Friday using two medium carriers + three kitten carriers.  Tribune-Star
  • This Christmas, the Allen family is reuniting at home for the first time in three years after a devastating car accident in 2023 to honor cherished holiday traditions.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kayleigh Fosnow, principal at New Palestine Elementary School, was awarded the $25,000 Milken Educator Award on Dec. 17 at a surprise assembly with the governor and secretary of education, marking national recognition for her work as a leading educator.  Tribune-Star

HEALTH NEWS

  • Vigo County Health Department is inspecting food establishments from Dec 15 to Dec 28 to ensure they meet safety standards. Several restaurants in Terre Haute have been found non-compliant with sanitation and temperature rules while a few have been cleared to open and operate.  WTHI-TV
