  • Blackburn Collision Center in Wabash Valley advises drivers to check tire tread, wiper blades and battery—washing off road salt helps prevent rust. The center also recommends keeping headlights free of snow and maintaining a half-full gas tank to avoid freezing.  WTHI-TV
  • Two Terre Haute teens have been named Riley Children's Foundation Champions—Brilea Southard, who faced a 4% chance of survival when she was airlifted to Riley Hospital after a car crash two years ago, is one of them.  Tribune-Star

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Williamson Agency in Terre Haute received a $20,000 Elevate Small Business Grant from Indiana State University Federal Credit Union+the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis to fund upcoming renovations that include a new audio mixing studio in its office.  Tribune-Star

CULTURE NEWS

  • Twelve Points Revitalization received a $150,000 grant from the HRH Foundation to start restoring the historic Garfield Theater — formerly known as Harmony Hall and planned to become a community arts hub.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is accepting applications for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship — which offers up to $40,000 in financial aid for high-achieving high school and college students planning to teach in Indiana for at least five years.  Tribune-Star

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Winter has arrived early in the Wabash Valley today—heavy snowstorms hit the area and more cold weather is expected in the coming days.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana congressional leaders, led by Senator Todd Young, sent a letter to the FAA on Monday urging the agency to name Indiana as one of two national drone test sites—this proposal highlights the state’s strong manufacturing, university research, and military testing capabilities along with support from Gov. Mike Braun’s drone task force.  WTHI-TV
  • The Indiana Senate announced that applications for the 2026 Senate Page Program are now open to students in grades six to 12—those accepted will tour the Statehouse, listen to debates, and help staff during the legislative session starting in January. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as the program offers work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with groups on Wednesdays.  WTHI-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hospice of the Wabash Valley will host its Hospice Holiday Celebration at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Terre Haute Convention Center with a cocktail reception and a silent auction. The event will honor Richard Burger, the Chapman S. Root award recipient for his contributions to community quality of life.  Tribune-Star
  • The Terre Haute Fire Department warned residents to use safe heating methods this winter — Captain Nick Arnold advised plugging space heaters directly into outlets and keeping them three feet away from flammable items — to reduce the risk of fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.  WTHI-TV
  • Indiana hospitals show improved health care costs as new rankings place the state 8th for affordable care in 2025. The Indiana Hospital Association credits hospital-led efforts and new laws—such as mandated price caps for patient services—to help lower expenses for families and businesses.  WTHI-TV

  • At 87, Rex Lawler is nationally recognized for his skill in pickleball—he plays most mornings at Booker T. Washington Community Center in cool weather and competes in singles and doubles at Brittlebank Park during warm months.  Tribune-Star
