COMMUNITY NEWS

  • WTHI-TV will serve as a drop-off site for the Marines’ annual Toys for Tots holiday drive next week, accepting new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations from +8 a.m. to 6 p.m.+ The Marines will visit the station on Friday, November 21 to collect donations.  WTHI-TV
  • Share Your Thanksgiving, now in its 37th year, brings the community together by collecting canned goods and money to help families in need. For the third year, the food drive has partnered with the college, and residents plus businesses have donated items like food pallets to support many families at Thanksgiving.  WTHI-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A gas leak at Indiana State University's Bailey College of Engineering and Technology triggered a brief evacuation Friday morning as the campus notified Terre Haute Fire Department — Centerpoint Energy while students and staff left the area.  Tribune-Star

  • Singer Betsy Baer and guitarist Brent 'B.G.' McPike will perform at Paris Center today—familiar faces from Betsy and The Bears who share a strong musical bond.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indiana’s Commission for Higher Education voted on Thursday to keep Frank O’Bannon scholarship awards unchanged for the 2026-27 school year—about 37,000 students will receive need-based aid at the current levels with the program remaining at roughly $168 million annually.  Tribune-Star
  • The Vigo County School Board approved a two-year collective bargaining agreement with the teachers association on Friday as it voted *6-0* while board member Amy Lore was absent.  Tribune-Star

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wabashiki wetlands enthusiasts will soon have a new overlook at Dewey Point in West Terre Haute—Michael Shaw of Earl Rodgers and Associates said it is under construction and will be completed by mid-December.  Tribune-Star
  • The public is invited to cut and remove downed trees for firewood at Turkey Run and Shades state parks+ trees eligible for firewood fell naturally or were cleared by park staff for safety near roadsides, campsites, and picnic areas.  Tribune-Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • Indiana State played its first game at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday night and lost 100-62 to the undefeated No. 4 Blue Devils after a fast start that they could not maintain.  Tribune-Star
