The Council on Domestic Abuse hosted a cookout at Baesler's Market today to raise funds for services that help domestic abuse victims.

Hot dogs and hamburgers were served—net profits went to support emergency shelter, legal advocacy, and intervention education.

Vigo County School Corp. adopted a facility plan in June to consolidate schools and close four elementary schools like Davis Park Elementary — a move that has sparked debate over a state law passed more than a decade ago which requires districts to follow specific funding rules when public schools are slated for closure. Officials said the plan will address aging buildings while critics warn the law may complicate district finances in the long term.

The Vigo County School Board will act Monday on a $180 million overall 2026 budget.

The plan sets aside $109 million for education and nearly $46.4 million for operations (with nearly $15.2 million for debt service) and provides $550,000 for the Inland Casino Fund (and $8.8 million for the operating referendum fund).
