  • Baesler’s Market will hold a fundraiser for CODA—the local domestic abuse group in the Wabash Valley—on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2900 Poplar St.—supporting vital services for survivors.  Tribune-Star
  • Scouting America’s Wabash Valley District will host its premier fundraising event for the 2026 Friends of Scouting Campaign at Terre Haute First Baptist Church—honoring longtime champions Frank Mitchell and Jim Stolt on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.  Tribune-Star
  • Terre Haute leaders celebrated National White Cane Day as Mayor Brandon Sakbun read a proclamation downtown and city officials announced plans for audible crosswalks — curb ramps and bumped warning strips on sidewalks to enhance ADA compliance.  WTHI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nellie (Magnanti) Hohne, a 1999 mechanical engineering graduate, has joined Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Board of Trustees as the newest alumni representative. Her two-year term began during the board’s fall meeting.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana University Media School fired director Jim Rodenbush Tuesday after he refused to instruct students to remove news from an upcoming special print edition of the Indiana Daily Student—he said administrators had ordered him to censor the paper a week earlier—and his dismissal followed that decision.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Tuesday night’s Vigo County Council meeting, the council voted 4-3 on an ordinance to block extra funding for schools without voter approval, prompting community leaders and a parent to express concern about stalled plans for new facilities. Councilman Steve Ellis said he introduced the measure to control spending — while Commissioner Chris Switzer urged that the new VCSC leadership be given a chance to make improvements.  WTHI-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Union Health announced yesterday that certified physician assistant Cody Manley, a Terre Haute native and graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo and Indiana State University, joined Northside Family Medicine—he worked as a medical scribe at Union Hospital before entering physician assistant school.  Tribune-Star
  • The Vigo County Health Department checked food places from Oct.6 to Oct.12 and found that some sites did not meet safety rules while others were in compliance—Rally’s and Denny’s experienced issues while several locations received new approval dates to operate or open. The inspection report provides key details on observed problems such as low temperatures and debris, along with new operating dates for approved sites.  WTHI-TV
