- ➤ Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in partnership with Miracle on 7th Street invites groups, organizations, and businesses to register for the ninth annual SMWC Light Your Way Christmas Parade, presented by Toyota of Terre Haute+Thompson's Honda, set to start at 6 p.m. on December 6 in downtown Terre Haute. Miracle on 7th Street will also launch holiday festivities on December 5 at the Hulman Center with table displays+activities for both kids and adults. WTHI-TV

- ➤ The Black History Pavilion at Fairbanks Park was vandalized over the weekend when a large rock was thrown at its privately donated lighting—local historian Dr. Crystal Reynolds urged anyone with information to contact police. WTHI-TV

- ➤ The Vigo County Public Library announced its selection for the 2026 NEA Big Read on October 13—this choice will be featured in upcoming community reading events to encourage local participation. - ➤ Nursing students from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and Ivy Tech Community College practiced disaster medicine on October 13th during a mock disaster drill—learning triage skills for treating simulated shooting victims. Tribune-Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indiana tax collections exceeded projections by $270 million for the first quarter—showing a 10.7% increase from last year’s revenue of about $532 million, according to the monthly report. Tribune-Star
- ➤ James Carville spoke Monday night at the Pasta & Politics event in Terre Haute with local leaders (Mayor Brandon Sakbun, Party Chair Joe Etling, and Secretary of State hopeful Beau Bayh), discussing redistricting and voter engagement.
