- ➤ Coy Park's new handicap accessible playground—where children enjoyed the sensory dome—was inaugurated Thursday afternoon with a ribbon cutting. The $35,000 equipment was purchased by the Terre Haute Mayor's Youth Council. Tribune-Star
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Duke Energy is investing in new grid technology that self heals during storms—cutting outages by 75% for more than half of Vigo County's customers. The system helped avoid 6,700 outages and save over 20,000 outage hours last year. WTHI-TV
- ➤ RJL Solutions, a firm founded in Terre Haute, opened its third office in Evansville to boost its work in government relations, marketing and communications — along with economic development and association management statewide. - ➤ Terre Haute's Richard Goodall, the Season 19 champion of America's Got Talent, returned to the AGT stage Wednesday night to perform his new single Long Time Coming — accompanied by Neal Schon from Journey. His special guest appearance in the season finale featured his hometown pride and a memorable live musical moment. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Indiana State University School of Music will host a Fall Choral Showcase Concert on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in University Hall Theater—three choral ensembles, including the University Chorale directed by Scott Buchanan, will perform music by American and Canadian composers. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Terre Haute native Emily Clapp and her band Dek of Hearts started small by singing backup vocals at a friend's recital in early 2024 and now she has an opportunity on The Voice that exceeds her childhood dreams—promising a big step in her music career. Tribune-Star

- ➤ At Franklin Elementary yesterday, a learning event based on the Three Little Pigs gave families hands-on activities like building pig models, drawing, STEM projects, and a theatrical reading. Each child received a book and a stuffed pig — a fun memento from the activities. Tribune-Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ About 60 protesters rallied at Dobbs Park on Thursday to oppose congressional redistricting while conservatives attended a Ronald Reagan dinner across the street—Gov. Mike Braun was scheduled to speak at the event hosted by Vigo County Pachyderm. Tribune-Star
- ➤ The Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Department will reorganize with planned personnel changes in 2026—these changes will adjust how the department operates. Tribune-Star
- ➤ The Indiana Economic Development Corp. will release the results of its forensic audit after a legal review for redactions is complete late next week—Gov. Mike Braun’s office confirmed there are no criminal findings. Tribune-Star
