- ➤ The Indiana Bat Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary on Saturday, September 27 at Indiana State University from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and continues at Dobbs Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., while the College of Arts & Sciences hosts a Preview Day at University Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with live bat shows, kids' activities, art, poetry, and nature hikes planned for family fun and bat conservation. - ➤ Today, Chances and Services for Youth broke ground on a new early learning center on Hunt Street near Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to expand childcare access in Vigo County. The project is funded by READI 2.0—CASY still needs another $700,000 to finish renovations, with completion expected by May or June. WTHI-TV
- ➤ The Vigo County Public Library will host Family Learning Day at its main branch on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 50 community groups including Foam Homies + Griffin Bike Park will offer free books and a chance to win grand prizes. WTHI-TV

- ➤ The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board approved funding for a pilot program using an automated laser to deter crows from roosting in downtown Terre Haute— the Chamber of Commerce will oversee the program. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Gov. Mike Braun announced that applications opened Tuesday for three vacancies on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission — with interviews scheduled after Oct. 14 — to attract entrepreneurial candidates who will help address rising utility bills for Hoosier ratepayers. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Yesterday, Mayor Brandon Sakbun and the City Council met to review the 2026 budget. The meeting noted city revenues are projected at $127.8 million and an operating budget of $129 million—funds boosted by income from the Terre Haute Casino Resort. Tribune-Star
