EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ATI Worksite Solutions — a division of ATI Physical Therapy — and the Institute for Musculoskeletal Advancement have started a new workplace injury prevention certificate program with Indiana State serving as the inaugural academic partner. The program begins this academic year through ISU's master of athletic training course and will train future health professionals in proactive musculoskeletal care. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Community partners celebrated the opening of the Jan McCarthy Early Childhood Education Center at Indiana State University on Thursday when they held a ribbon cutting. The new center will support early education efforts in our local area. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology announced its annual Student Performing Arts series—nearly 350 students will participate in creative productions that include music, drama, and dance. Organizers said the program will offer valuable performance opportunities for students in Terre Haute. Tribune-Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Vigo County Council held a special meeting on Thursday afternoon to accept budgets from two departments that submitted their 2026 documents late. The budgets will be entered into the public record—allowing voters to vote on the county budget at the council's Oct. 14 meeting. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Mayor Brandon Sakbun is forming a task force to tackle homelessness by uniting local groups and planning long-term steps for transitional housing (the group will include outreach to those in need and aim to set up a warming center within the next three weeks) while emphasizing the need for public patience as improvements continue. - ➤ Dry conditions persist across the Wabash Valley with many areas under burn bans. If bans lift while it stays dry, the Terre Haute Fire Department warns residents to use caution when burning yard items—keeping fires 20 feet from structures and calling 911 for any brush fire. WTHI-TV
- ➤ The Terre Haute City Council meeting to review the sanitary budget was postponed due to a lack of quorum — which prevented public comment. City Clerk Michelle Edwards said the hearing will be rescheduled — details to follow. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Indiana lawmakers voted to delay work requirements for Medicaid beneficiaries set to start next summer—this delay means the new rule will take effect six months later than planned. Tribune-Star
HEALTH NEWS

- ➤ Indiana State Sports Network, the student-led group at Indiana State University, won the Missouri Valley Conference Production Unit of the Year award—giving students real hands-on work in sports broadcasting.
