- ➤ The Terre Haute Balloon Festival began Friday night and continues today at Terre Haute Regional Airport, where families enjoy hot air balloons, live entertainment, a kids zone, food trucks and tethered balloon rides for $20 cash—proceeds benefit Chances and Services for Youth. WTHI-TV

- ➤ The Indiana Secretary of State’s Office said Friday that a Vigo County man was being investigated for allegedly voting without being a U.S. citizen. Tribune-Star

- ➤ West Terre Haute woodworker Blaine Berry crafted a white oak chair in a 1790s style—he will attend an event at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. next week where his work and bowls by fellow Vigo Countian Keith Ruble will be on display. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Wabash Valley viewers saw a familiar face in an NBC commercial for The Voice when Terre Haute native Emily Clapp, member of Nashville trio Dek of Hearts, appeared—her band blends country, pop, and bluegrass sounds. Tribune-Star

- ➤ Earlier this year, the nation’s largest scientific research funder canceled 21 NIH grants worth $24.5 million + four higher education institutions in Indiana saw projects on diversity, inclusion and vaccines disrupted. Tribune-Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Repaving was finished at 13th Street and Wabash Avenue in downtown Terre Haute and the intersection is now open—restoring travel for local drivers. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales has asked law enforcement to investigate a suspected noncitizen voter who used a Mexican passport to cast votes in several elections since 2018 - Vigo County has passed the case to the prosecutor's office and state police and it has been referred to the DOJ and FBI. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Dry weather in the Wabash Valley has raised fire danger, prompting Vermillion County officials to issue a burn ban effective now and Coles County officials to enforce a ban at midnight—both measures will remain until conditions improve as they re-evaluate the drought. WTHI-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ United Way of the Wabash Valley announced a grant called Fall 2025 Expanding Access and Resources to Behavioral Health—this program will give funds to nonprofits, faith-based groups, community organizations and local government to expand mental health and substance use treatment in the Wabash Valley.
