- ➤ Police are investigating the death of 41-year-old Elijah B. Oglesby—found injured on South 9th Street, treated by TransCare before being taken to a local hospital where he later died after a projectile injury—and urge anyone with information to come forward. WTHI-TV

- ➤ The Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra will mark its 100th season with a concert on Sept. 13 that will feature a commissioned composition + introduce new music director Roger Kalia, whose background includes Evansville Philharmonic + Orchestra Santa Monica. Tribune-Star
- ➤ The Men of Note Band will perform a free concert at Fairbanks Park on Saturday at 5 p.m. — if rain occurs, the band will move the performance to Sunday. Tribune-Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Tuesday evening's Vigo County Council meeting, funding was requested for large equipment—two John Deere diesel tractors for Terre Haute Regional Airport to mow its 600 acre property and extra funds for the Sugar Creek Fire Protection District, with the airport planning to use $414,514.80 from its rainy day fund and return $104,000 once grant money arrives. - ➤ Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun has released his balanced 2026 budget proposal with over $127 million in operating revenue and a plan to double casino revenue from $3 million to $9.3 million—he also proposed base salary increases for police and fire and funds for Deming Pool, parks, and other projects. The proposal will be reviewed by city council while Indiana Senate Bill 1 is expected to cost the city over $1 million next year. WTHI-TV
