COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bringing Back the Bash will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at The Mill at 2403 Prairieton Road in Terre Haute. The free car show will let local fans enjoy classic cars and a fun, nostalgic event—one for all ages.  Tribune-Star
  • WTHI-TV's Fall Senior Fair will take place at Haute City Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 — over 25 vendors will offer insurance, assisted living, and medical equipment services along with bingo games and a chance to win a $200 Visa gift card.  WTHI-TV

  • Vigo County teens are learning business skills in a CEO program's third year, and Noah Fields is eager to learn from experienced owners—he will use these lessons to start his own business.  Tribune-Star

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, Indiana State Police stopped a West Terre Haute driver's 2005 maroon car on I69 southbound near the 127 mile marker—an investigation revealed five packages of THC gummies, two THC containers, and a box of 100 2-gram hash oil units valued at about $1,300, and the man now faces Level 6 felony charges for possession and dealing.  WTHI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • September is Library Card Sign-up Month at Vigo County Public Library, where community members are encouraged to apply for a library card to access books, movies and digital resources — the program helps residents read, learn and grow.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana State University announced on Aug. 27 that it had its largest freshman class in five years and improved student retention—overall headcount remained flat due to smaller incoming classes in previous years.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana Railroad is planning a logistical hub at 13th and Hulman—Mayor Brandon Sakbun said the city opened bids on the property and will review them for 60 days before making a decision.  Tribune-Star
  • Terre Haute adopted a new ordinance that requires landlords to pay a $5 fee when renting their homes — the landlord registry will hold out-of-state owners accountable by tracking property upkeep.  WTHI-TV
