🎭 Culture
Indiana DNR revisited historic safe havens for Green Book travelers by studying the former Latta’s Tourist Court east of town, now part of Whispering Woods Estates + Limestone Cottages, which served as a safe lodging spot during segregation.
The Gallery at Arts Illiana is hosting the End of Summer Clearance Art Extravaganza with over 80 original art pieces for sale, including photography, paintings, sculptures, and fiber art.
The exhibition runs Aug. 21 to Sept. 18 with viewings on Aug. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. (submissions are free).

Nathan Schaumleffel, an ISU professor and local Parks Board president, was elected a Fellow of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and will be inducted at the Annual Networking Reception on Sept.

Camp Navigate in Terre Haute got a $15,750 grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to boost its computer lab and STEAM program, buying 35 new Chromebooks that summer campers now use to build tech skills + spark innovation.
🏛️ Government
City of Terre Haute announced $74,261 in Neighborhood Investment Fund awards for seven resident-led projects aimed at improving beautification, public art, recreation, safety and accessibility.
The fund received 19 applications asking for more than $215K during the 2026 cycle.
