- ➤ An early morning fire on Tuesday at 1835 Blaine Ave. was a total loss as firefighters arrived at 5:37 a.m. and found the unoccupied house with utilities off — Capt. Nick Arnold said smoke and flames were seen during the response — leaving the structure unsalvageable. Tribune-Star
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Vigo schools’ Jump Start program prepares young students for Grades K-2 as they get ready for kindergarten—Oaklynn Sparks is excited for her first day next week. Tribune-Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Vigo County Council heard several funding requests Tuesday evening during a sunshine session focused largely on repairs for the Homes for Children group home program—no votes will be taken until next Tuesday. The council will consider the issues at that meeting. Tribune-Star
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that Indiana 159 near Lewis will be closed temporarily as crews begin replacing a pipe under the road between Stephens Drive and the railroad tracks starting today. The detour follows Stephens Drive, Washington Street and Forest Drive and work is expected to last around one day subject to weather. Tribune-Star
HEALTH NEWS
