  • Collectors came to the 2nd Annual Wabash Valley Insulator Show held this past weekend in Shelburn where they displayed rare insulators+ some pieces are over 100 years old while show host Cole King explained their role in early electrical communication and urged owners to get items appraised.  WTWO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vigo County Public Library (the organizer) hosted its Color Our World Run/Walk as the grand finale of its summer reading program where dozens of local residents ran or walked. The library will hold Family Learning Day on September 27th (from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to offer more activities for families.  WTWO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • One Hoosier law enforcement officer will soon receive a rare challenge coin from the Department of Child Services to honor a heroic act protecting a child — a token that follows a long military tradition and is also embraced by other state agencies and elected officials to recognize service and dedication. This award, one among many challenge coins purchased at reduced costs, highlights the value of honoring exceptional public service in our state.  WTHI-TV
  • The Department of Natural Resources is offering many events at the Indiana State Fair — it began Friday and will continue through August 17, excluding Mondays. Local residents can visit during these days to enjoy the planned activities — a busy lineup that brings hands-on experiences to the fair.  Tribune-Star
