COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Pathways in Terre Haute is offering its space as a cooling center today from noon until 7:30 p.m. and tomorrow from noon until 6:30 p.m.—residents can cool off, shower, and do laundry while pets are welcome. WTWO
- ➤ The Terre Haute Symphony League will host Jazz at the Verve on July 31 at 6 p.m. at The Verve, 677 Wabash—featuring trio Jazz Haute with THSO Principal Trombone Randy Mitchell, guitarist Brent McPike, and bassist Todd Gallagher, along with a pizza buffet, cash bar, and a chance to meet new music director Roger Kalia. A heat advisory remains in effect today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. as heat index values may reach up to 105—residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids and stay in cool places. Tribune-Star
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Terre Haute Police and Fire responded to a crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of 1st and Locust Street that left two individuals entrapped; the male driver was seen outside his vehicle and both he and a female passenger were taken by ambulance to the hospital (their conditions remain unknown). The street between 8th and Locust is closed for reconstruction as crews and Duke Energy work to replace a damaged telephone pole. WTWO
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Terre Haute Casino Resort will host a job fair on Wednesday, August 6 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Event Center where applicants aged 21 and over can receive on-the-spot interviews to fill roles—food and beverage, table games, hospitality and security. The resort will also run its Dealer Academy from August 25 to September 26 for paid training at $16 per hour—helping applicants build skills for casino careers. WTHI-TV

- ➤ Country singer Jamey Johnson will add a show at The Mill in Terre Haute on September 19 as part of his 43-city Last Honky Tonk Tour—tickets go on sale July 25 at 10 a.m.— and he plans to perform new songs along with his well-known hits. WTWO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fayette Township water customers were told to boil their water until further notice because some equipment was replaced — officials said. The water system will update residents when the order ends. WTWO
