COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Riverscape will host Moonlight on the Wabash, a fundraiser dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 6:00 p.m. at Fairbanks Park — live music will play as the event honors an individual or organization for their significant impact on the Wabash River. Tribune-Star
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Monday morning, at 3:30 a.m., THPD officers responded to reports that several people had fallen into the Wabash River near Fairbanks Park's boat ramp and Officer Richardson entered the water to save a victim from a strong current (one victim had already reached shore). WTWO
- ➤ A residential fire Monday afternoon at 1920 N. 27th St. displaced and mildly injured its occupant but did not destroy the building, the Terre Haute Fire Department said, and firefighter Jake Chalos and his crew arrived quickly to secure utilities (according to the department). Tribune-Star
- ➤ Early Monday morning, THPD officers responded to a call at Fairbanks Park after several people fell into the Wabash River and saved three, with Officer Richardson— a member of the department— rescuing one individual from strong currents. WTHI-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Federal authorities sentenced 22 individuals in a meth and money laundering case that spread drugs into areas including Terre Haute, Columbus, and Seymour—82 pounds of meth, 1,750 fentanyl pills, one kilogram of cocaine and nine firearms were seized while a 23rd defendant remains at large. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ New SAT results showed that more Indiana high school students met college-readiness benchmarks in reading and writing—54.5% reached the target—with over 81,000 students (mostly juniors) taking the test in 2024–25. Math scores remained low with only 25.2% passing, and education officials said they will expand math support programs to boost future performance. WTHI-TV

- ➤ Officials lifted the boil order—issued on July 17—for residents on Maplewood Avenue and Crestwood Avenue in the Krislynn Woods Subdivision in Fayette Township. WTWO
