ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Vigo County Sheriff's Office identified Mark Oberle (67, Terre Haute) as the driver killed when his white pickup truck was hit by a silver pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Allendale Lane in southern Vigo County on Tuesday afternoon, and the other driver was taken to a local hospital. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Education released spring 2025 ILEARN results showing 40.6% of students met English Language Arts standards and about 42% met math standards from over 1,350 schools in the Wabash Valley. The department is reworking the test to offer more actionable data for students & families & teachers. WTWO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Mike Braun created an Emergency Alert Task Force today to review Indiana’s emergency alert systems—an effort prompted by deadly Texas flooding that showed potential gaps in warning capacity. The Department of Homeland Security and local public safety officials will lead the study while experts advise, and a report is expected by November 1. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Governor Mike Braun launched a task force today to review and strengthen Indiana’s emergency alert systems for extreme weather—this follows deadly flooding in Texas that killed over 130 people. The group, led by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Integrated Public Safety Commission, will provide recommendations by Nov. 1 to improve warning protocols. WTWO
- ➤ Residents along Maplewood Avenue and Crestwood Avenue in Krislynn Woods Subdivision remain under a boil order after a water main break was repaired — township officials said the order will stay in effect until further notice. WTWO

- ➤ The Vigo County Health Department released food inspection reports covering weeks from March 17 to July 12, with the latest report updated Jul 15—one report noted over 60 health code violations in 9 restaurants. These inspections examined restaurants and food stores to help ensure safe dining options locally. WTHI-TV

- ➤ Bruce Rosselli, owner and general manager of the Terre Haute Rex, appeared on Beyond The Stands where he shared that the team holds the top record in the Prospect League and will host a playoff game soon. He added that the upcoming home game on Saturday will honor the 2015 Rex team that won the franchise’s first Prospect League Championship + set a record with 43 wins. WTWO
