🎭 Culture
Miami Nation of Indiana hosted its 18th annual All Nations Gathering at a two-day powwow recently, featuring honor songs, traditional dances, and an intertribal dance.
The event displayed the Miami Nation flag + American flag + POW and MIA flag.
🎓 Education
Two candidates, Chase Nattkemper and Imer Holman, filed before noon on Thursday to run for District 1 of the Vigo County School Board in Harrison Township.
Gabby Comelleri, a children’s author, spoke to Vigo County School Corp students on Thursday about writing and publishing during the University Connections summer program at Indiana State University.
Her top-ranked book Peckish (about a croissant-loving pigeon in Paris) was No. 1 on Ingram and Amazon in May.
Scott Moore, principal at Terre Haute North Vigo High School, has been named assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at Clay Community Schools (starting July 1).
The Wabash Valley Community Foundation awarded $200,250 in Education Pillar grants to eight local organizations serving Vigo County.
This is its first competitive grant cycle and a new step in supporting education locally.

A tornado touched down near Terre Haute during severe storms on Wednesday and left some damage in its wake.
Flood warnings remain in effect along the Wabash River basin until Monday evening as water levels are expected to crest Saturday.
