COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Vermillion County Fair held its second day on Sunday with a pet show, k9 demonstration, and evening rodeo that featured local 4-H projects and animal displays — community members enjoyed the events and shared their dedication. Tuesday, June 17th will feature mud volleyball at the fairgrounds — organizers ask for more teams and support.  WTWO

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Today, Tamiya O’Quinn’s family held a benefit cookout at Baesler’s Market from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for her funeral following her death and that of Avery Sullivan in a car accident on June 7 & early donations showed strong community support.  WTWO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • All trails at Turkey Run State Park remain closed because heavy rain and overnight flooding now cover most paths—water is still rising. Park officials will update the park’s Facebook page and website with new information.  WTWO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana officials approved a waiver that will ban soft drinks and some candy from SNAP purchases as early as January—aiming to boost nutrition—while researchers and retailers question its impact due to confusing definitions and potential retail losses. Retailers may need to reprogram systems and explain the new rules to customers, which could worsen the burden on stores that support SNAP sales.  WTHI-TV
