COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On June 14, the Vigo County Fairgrounds will host the Cruisin’ In 4 Paws Car Show and the Campbell Creek Market where over 130 vendors, food trucks, & live bands will entertain from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The car show will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. for a $20 fee & includes a free t-shirt and dash plaque for the first 150 registrants while beer and wine sales will support the Clay County Humane Society.  WTWO

CRIME NEWS

  • A Terre Haute woman, Misty L. Casey, 30, was charged with 11 counts—including two for causing death while operating a vehicle while intoxicated—in connection with a fatal accident on June 11th at South 13th and Oak streets that killed two juveniles.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seniors are starting a capstone design course to work on civil engineering projects for local organizations during the 2025-26 school year—projects that may lead to construction plans or serve as feasibility studies. Students will begin investigating project needs in the fall and interested groups can submit project ideas by August 6—ensuring the work also meets community needs.  WTHI-TV
  • Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is asking local Wabash Valley groups for civil engineering projects that seniors will work on during the 2025–26 school year—teams will work together on projects that help local companies and organizations.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Terre Haute Fire Department is accepting applications for new recruits; candidates must be 19 to 39 years old, hold a valid Indiana driver's license, and have no felony convictions plus complete a physical ability test. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply plus the recruitment process remains open.  WTHI-TV
  • Public safety agencies in Vigo County will receive a boost as the Duke Energy Foundation awards a $25,000 grant for new technology and training at the Emergency Operations Center — Knox County will get $12,000 for updated equipment and Bicknell will receive $9,000 for a smart board to aid fire department training.  WTHI-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Between May 27 and June 6, the Vigo County Health Department inspected food establishments in Terre Haute and found that some, like Burger King at 1160 US Hwy 40, met health standards while others, such as Golden Corral with 11 violations, did not. The report also noted that several establishments were approved to operate on June 6+ officials have reminded operators to follow the required guidelines.  WTWO
