Catholic Charities will hold the Quick Quack Trail Run 5K obstacle course at Griffin Bike Park where runners will face a floating bridge and ramps as they race for rubber duck trophies.

Registration is open until June 12 and participants 11 or older must sign up with an adult—group discounts are offered.

Local law enforcement officers ran three miles through downtown Terre Haute with Special Olympics athlete Shelby Baker to kick off the 2025 Summer Games, set to begin June 6.

Mayor Brandon Sakbun said the run — the first in a series of community events — shows strong local commitment ahead of the expected arrival of over 2,500 athletes.

Sony DADC said its Terre Haute plant, originally built to make CDs, now is teaming up with D&D Automation and KLA to use its cleanroom for producing shipping canisters for semiconductor chip parts — KLA is investing $200,000 and two full-time jobs will be added.

Ivy Tech announced today that more than 200 employees will lose their jobs after state budget cuts of $54 million—eight of those layoffs affect the Terre Haute area.

Affected employees will receive a separation package as the reductions begin today.

Ivy Tech Community College is cutting 202 positions statewide because of state budget cuts.

Eight employees in Terre Haute are affected—seven staff and one administrative—and they are split equally as full-time and part-time workers.

The City of Terre Haute and Vigo County officials in partnership with Thrive West Central will hold a press conference on June 5 at 10 a.m. at the Thrive West Central — Training Center to announce a new homebuyer assistance initiative funded by Club 720 and the Hoosier Homes program that will help local lenders, realtors and employers guide buyers toward more affordable homeownership.

The City of Terre Haute will close the section of 7th Street from Spang Street to the train tracks for four days starting on Friday so Lankford Excavating can repair an emergency water valve—additionally, the Indiana Department of Transportation will begin alternating lane closures on State Road 58 near Carlisle around June 4 for bridge maintenance that will last one month with one lane kept open by a temporary signal.
