- ➤ Terre Haute’s own Greg Gibson was voted a 2025 Indiana Living Legend by the Indiana Historical Society for his decades of work in business and community revitalization, and he will be formally recognized at a gala in Indianapolis on August 15 + his achievements include developing the local convention center and supporting several key local projects. - ➤ Chances and Services for Youth hosted a kick‐off event at the County Club of Terre Haute on May 29—announcing this year’s stars at 6:30 p.m. The event raised over $3.4 million for youth programs and will lead to a dance competition on October 3 at the Hulman Center with a dinner, silent auction, and live broadcast on WAWV at 7 p.m. WTWO
- ➤ Terre Haute’s Greg Gibson, a leader in local development who has backed downtown projects and local businesses, will be honored as a 2025 Indiana Living Legend at a gala on August 15 at the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in Indianapolis. WTHI-TV

- ➤ Spectrum has launched Internet, Mobile, TV, and Voice services to more than 2,300 homes and small businesses in rural Vigo County — part of a multi-year plan with a $7 billion investment to extend over 100,000 miles of fiber-optic network. WTHI-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Wilson Chavez has been charged with murder, criminal recklessness, and unlawful possession of a handgun after allegedly shooting coworker Jaime Munoz at Candlewood Suites in Terre Haute—Chavez, who is in the U.S. illegally and held in Vigo County Jail, denies the charges while facing an ICE immigration hold. - ➤ Over the past week, Sullivan County deputies PJ Montgomery and Cole Boatright—and K9 Qlark—made 23 arrests for crimes including drug possession, warrant-related sexual battery, auto theft, and domestic battery during traffic stops and investigations in Sullivan, Hymera, Merom, Carlisle, Dugger and Shelburn. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Larry Bird Museum in Terre Haute welcomed 12,000 visitors in its first year at the Convention Center—marking a strong local milestone. The museum will offer a commemorative mini-basketball to visitors in June and plans to add new features next year. WTHI-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Vigo County School Corporation will host an Arrive and Drive event this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at its Maple Avenue bus lot to recruit full-time bus drivers with a starting pay of 110 dollars a day (applicants must be at least 21 with a clean driving record). WTHI-TV

- ➤ Today, Terre Haute unveiled a new logo featuring the courthouse, the Larry Bird statue and the city skyline — a design that shows the community’s heart, history and future. The launch includes the new tagline Meet us at the crossroads and will be followed by a redesign of the city website. WTWO
- ➤ Indiana Gov. Mike Braun signed two public safety bills on Wednesday that will raise penalties for fentanyl crimes and add bail conditions in domestic violence cases—measures designed to protect Hoosier families and limit government spending on obscene performances. The fentanyl law takes effect on July 1 and the actions followed calls to improve community safety. WTHI-TV
