- ➤ Deming Park Pool opened for the 2025 season last weekend and will welcome swimmers again this Saturday with operating hours from noon to 6 p.m. The pool will be closed Monday but will open daily starting Tuesday, June 3 — with hours from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and noon to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. - ➤ Ryves Youth Center in Terre Haute is offering a free summer camp for kids ages 5—17 that will start June 3—providing meals and fun activities daily from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. WTHI-TV
- ➤ United Way of the Wabash Valley secured a $24,000 grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to help local families cover down payments and closing costs for home purchases. Eligible homebuyers can receive up to $4,000 at closing — they must also complete a financial literacy course to qualify. WTHI-TV

- ➤ A tree fell on County Road 500 South near Dana on May 26 at about 10:00 p.m. and killed two motorcyclists from Chrisman—Erin Wheeler died at the scene while Jacob Coe later died at an Indianapolis hospital. WTHI-TV

- ➤ A team of Rose-Hulman and Ivy Tech students earned third place overall — winning several key technical awards — in the second year of the three-year Battery Workforce Challenge held in Indianapolis from May 4 to May 9. They built and tested a battery module for an electric commercial van donated by Stellantis. Tribune-Star

- ➤ Indiana American Water released its 2024 Water Quality Reports covering the Wabash Valley, including the Terre Haute area, Marion Heights, Lost Creek, Honey Creek, Otter Creek, Sugar Creek, Riley, and Linton Townships. The reports show that water met all state and federal standards for regulated substances — the company said the data confirms its mission to provide safe, clean water — and residents can check details by location on the website. - ➤ The City of Terre Haute announced the Indiana Energy Saver Program — targeting low to moderate-income households with rebates for energy efficiency upgrades and appliance improvements. The program is supported by nearly $182,000,000 in federal funding — and is available to homeowners and renters who meet income and residency requirements. WTWO
- ➤ Sheriff Derek Fell announced his candidacy for the 2026 sheriff election on Wednesday afternoon at Laborer's Hall on Poplar Street — he said he plans to seek two terms after his appointment last August following Sheriff John Plasse’s death from pancreatic cancer. WTHI-TV
- ➤ The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board voted Wednesday to advance repairs on the Indiana Theatre roof by authorizing Commissioner Chris Switzer to seek bids and by transferring $300,000 from its capital expense budget to the theater's account — the board approved these measures on May 28 — to fund the needed repair work.
