- ➤ Federal Coffee (at Wabash Avenue and Seventh Street) is closing permanently on Sunday, May 31 as Chef Kris Kraut announced on Facebook that the shop will end operations after opening in late 2020. No replacement business has been announced. Tribune-Star

- ➤ Teacher Amy Walker (of Covered Bridge Special Education District) worked with transitional kindergartner Serenity Cooper on April 30 at Deming Early Learning Center using nursery rhymes to build early skills. Indiana State’s PASS Project addresses the shortage of teachers for blind and low vision students. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Vigo County School Corp. middle schools will pilot a new schedule for 2026-27 to meet a state law that requires extra math support for K-8 students. The schedule change follows House Enrolled Act 1634 and aims to strengthen math instruction in the district. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Brazil Public Library received a $3,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to support its 2026 summer reading program themed Unearth a Story, which will provide new books for program participants. WTHI-TV
