COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Starting July 4, the Terre Haute Farmers Market will move to 201 Cherry Street next to the Vigo County Courthouse, leaving the Meadows behind. The relocation provides more grass, vendor space, and community gathering areas as part of downtown revitalization.  WTHI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Terre Haute Symphony League will perform Luminous Strings at BankOnArt Gallery in Brazil on June 6. The string quartet will play music by Coldplay, Vivaldi, Goo Goo Dolls, The Beatles, Queen, Frank Sinatra and Fleetwood Mac to complement the BLOOM, HUM, and GLOW exhibit.  Tribune-Star

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation said it is disappointed after Thyssenkrupp announced that its plant will close next year - it will work with partners to help affected workers find training and job placement support.  WTHI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Vigo County Public Library will kick off its Summer Reading program on May 29 at its Main Branch with a Foam Homies Party from 5 to 7 p.m.—attendees can register and get a free book to start their summer reading journey.  Tribune-Star
  • The Vigo County School Board voted Monday evening to upgrade Otter Creek Middle School and Davis Park Elementary by accepting Sycamore Engineering’s $1.9 million bid for a cooling tower and pump replacements — it was the lowest of three bids.  Tribune-Star

HEALTH NEWS

  • Vigo County health inspectors released this week’s restaurant inspection results showing sewage odors + spoiled sushi + bare-hand food contact at several local eateries. Officials say restaurants must fix these issues to meet food safety standards.  WTHI-TV
  • Life’s Journey Recovery Center has launched a new recovery retreat to support individuals facing addiction challenges. Michael Crouch, inspired by the loss of his brother to a heroin overdose four years ago (a personal call to service), said the program aims to offer fresh hope for those in need.  Tribune-Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • Special Olympics Indiana and the JD Foundation will provide free athletic shoes to athletes at the 2026 Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games on June 12-14 in Terre Haute. The shoes will be available inside Olympic Town on Lot 14 at Indiana State University while supplies last.  Tribune-Star
