- ➤ Unity Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser today from 4 to 7 p.m. at its Springhill Drive location (tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for children) to support its food pantry. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Jeff Newton and his family will lay Wayne Newton to rest today in Terre Haute. The farewell is expected to be emotional as relatives honor his lifelong impact on the community. Tribune-Star
- ➤ After a police notice raised safety concerns, all Vigo County Public Library branches reopen today for regular hours following an emergency closure that began Thursday (library leaders worked closely with police to ensure safety). Tribune-Star
- ➤ Riley teen Audrey Reinoehl, president of the local 4-H Club, launched Dignity in a Duffle to supply duffle bags with hygiene items and comforts for peers entering emergency placement through DCS; the project has helped more than 400 youths — easing their transition during a stressful time. - ➤ Foster Success hosts a foster care appreciation picnic today at Shakamak State Park where families enjoy food, games, and contests such as a corn cob eating contest and relay races+ watermelon seed spitting, with park pass details for foster youth provided. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Local police held their annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser today at Dunkin in Terre Haute — collecting donations for Indiana Special Olympics while offering free donut coupons for all gifts and free medium hot coffee coupons for donations of $10 or more. WTHI-TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Thyssenkrupp announced its plant in Vigo County Industrial Park will close by March 31, 2027 and 230 jobs will be lost as it phases operations to shift North American production to its Hamilton site. WTHI-TV

- ➤ On Friday, Rio Grande Elementary held a program in its gym to open a metal time capsule containing items from 1976 and 2001 that was unearthed from in front of the school (current and former students and staff attended). Tribune-Star
