United Way of the Wabash Valley is hosting a Stand Down event for veterans and their families today from 2 to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 972 in Terre Haute in partnership with Disabled American Veterans + Duke Energy + Union Health.

The 2026 Senior Expo, in its 25th year (sponsored by Tribune-Star, Union Health and THRIVE West Central), was held Thursday at The Meadows shopping center and featured dozens of exhibitors offering free information, products, and services for seniors.

Thrive West Central has been awarded millions from the READI 2.0 program and Lilly Endowment to support housing improvements in Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo counties.

Duke Energy broke ground yesterday morning on its $3 billion project at the Cayuga Generating Station to replace coal-fired units with two new natural gas turbines that will improve energy efficiency.
