COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hydrite reached $10K through its Steals for Meals program to fight hunger — supporting ISU Athletics while celebrating Sycamore baseball and basketball seasons.  Tribune-Star
  • The Villages of Indiana launched the 'Considering Foster Care - You Have What It Takes' campaign during Foster Care Awareness Month in May to help fill a shortage of foster parents in the community. The campaign offers Zoom info sessions and one-on-one meetings (led by clinical director Kathy Stagg) to guide potential families through the process.  WTHI-TV
  • Local organizers will hold a benefit at Dugger Community Center on May 17 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m to help Alana Taylor rebuild the Acorn Ridge Reception Barn, which burned down on May 3. The event features vendors, a silent auction (Union Station provides catering).  WTHI-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Fed Up Shipping today at 1440 Wabash Ave. The new center – authorized by FedEx – fills a 70-mile gap after the Margaret Ave facility closed.  WTHI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fifth graders from Ouabache Elementary School toured Swope Art Museum's new gallery today, guided by volunteer docent Elsa Morris while viewing work by local middle and high school students — a showcase of emerging talent in the community.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT announced traffic changes on I-70 for patching and resurfacing projects between Indiana 641 and Indiana 59 (11–22 marker). Contractors will reduce lanes to one in each direction between 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. starting May 18.  Tribune-Star
  • Drivers should expect that INDOT is closing lanes on I-70 nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for pavement marking work in Vigo County— the project will last up to one week as weather permits and extra caution is advised.  WTHI-TV
