- ➤ Today, the Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors group invites the community to 'Paint the Town Pink' by offering carnations for $1 and larger floral arrangements at various locations—money raised will support local survivors with peer support, education, and resources. WTHI-TV
- ➤ The United Way of the Wabash Valley awarded $61,601 to two Success by 6 programs to boost early learning for local children. The funding provided $39,689 to five home-based childcare providers for classroom improvements—plus $21,912 to launch a guided play program at the Children’s Museum for families enrolled in WIC. WTWO
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Vigo County History Museum has launched a flight simulator exhibit that gives visitors an aerial view of local landmarks in partnership with Terre Haute Regional Airport — the simulator is available Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all visitors. WTHI-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 8, the Vigo County Education Foundation honored 31 outstanding educators at its 39th annual Excellence in Education banquet held at O’Shaughnessy Hall at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College — nominees were selected by students, parents, teachers, principals and other school community members from Vigo County schools. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation will close the ramp from U.S. 41 southbound to Indiana 63 northbound on the north side on or after May 21 for road repairs—work is expected to last about a day but may change with weather. Tribune-Star
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Union Health responded to Attorney General Todd Rokita’s concerns after he argued that the merger with Terre Haute Regional Hospital would hurt competition. The hospital said the merger will improve access to care and enhance health outcomes — while maintaining cost efficiency and protecting patient affordability. WTHI-TV
