- ➤ The CANDLES Holocaust Museum in Terre Haute will host Rwandan genocide survivor Kizito Kalima on Saturday for an interactive theater experience (starting at 1 p.m.). Guests must RSVP early due to limited seating. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Mike Lunsford, a Tribune-Star columnist and photographer, was recognized in mid-April at the annual Hoosier Outdoor Writers Conference held at the Potawatomi Inn inside Pokagon State Park after earning three first-place and three second-place Excellence-in-Craft Awards for his media work. - ➤ Indiana Gov. Mike Braun extended gas tax relief for another 30 days and suspended a 36-cent gas excise tax, giving drivers 59 cents per gallon in fuel savings as prices approached $5 at local pumps. Price drops will be seen over the next several days while officials monitor the market. WTHI-TV

- ➤ The Vigo County Education Foundation honored 31 outstanding educators at the 40th annual 'Excellence in Education' banquet on Wednesday at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College — nominations came from local parents, teachers and principals recognizing strong community involvement. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Sadie Herring, a West Vigo High School graduate, will speak at the noon commencement ceremony on Saturday as she graduates from Indiana State University, earning a double major in insurance/risk management and marketing. Tribune-Star
- ➤ A graduating Indiana State University master’s student was awarded a Fulbright grant — he will travel to Ecuador soon to study the rare Ecuadorian Hillstar and its link with the Flower of the Andes. Tribune-Star
- ➤ A Terre Haute North Vigo High School team is one of 10 state finalists for the 2026 STARTedUP Challenge finals. The group (Nathan Jones, Bradley Moore and Jude Sabla) won Region 7 for Phoenix Phuel, a project that cuts plastic waste and lowers fuel costs. Tribune-Star
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A flood warning remains in effect for the Wabash River at Montezuma, where minor flooding has affected several hundred acres along the river's right bank. Water levels are expected to fall below flood stage by tomorrow morning, so motorists should avoid flooded roads. Tribune-Star

- ➤ Terre Vista Glen Phase 3 plans to build more homes than originally intended near Poplar Street and drew local residents' objections during a Wednesday planning meeting at the Annex – though the Area Planning Department favored it along with 11 other projects. Tribune-Star
