Wilson Chavez, the defendant in a fatal shooting at Candlewood Suites in Terre Haute on Monday night, was found not to be a U.S. citizen and remains in the country illegally—he faces a preliminary murder charge and is held on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Preparations are underway for Tablescapes — Arts Illiana's largest fundraiser — which will feature decorated tables that host a dinner.
