- ➤ Wilson Chavez, the defendant in a fatal shooting at Candlewood Suites in Terre Haute on Monday night, was found not to be a U.S. citizen and remains in the country illegally—he faces a preliminary murder charge and is held on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer. Tribune-Star

- ➤ Preparations are underway for Tablescapes — Arts Illiana's largest fundraiser — which will feature decorated tables that host a dinner. Organizers expect a record turnout with 25 tables and a few remaining tickets available for the event at ISU Sycamore Banquet Center on May 16 and 17. WTHI-TV
