- ➤ The 7th annual 12 Points Car Show will take place Saturday, July 12 at Collett Park — the event aims to raise $25,000 for Harmony Hall repairs. Vehicle registration will run from 9 a.m. to noon on the day of the event. WTHI-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two people were taken to a hospital after a stolen car fled a traffic stop early Tuesday morning on Maple Ave, striking another vehicle and later crashing into a tree near North 28th Street — police closed Maple Ave between North 26th and North 28th while investigators confirmed the car was reported stolen. - ➤ Police said that on Monday night around 9 p.m., Wilson Chavez shot and killed Jaime Munoz in room 523 at Candlewood Suites in downtown Terre Haute—officers responded after a call from the front desk and found evidence that contradicts Chavez’s account. WTHI-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ After dam removal improved conditions in Otter Creek and at Markle Mill Park, residents are invited to join the free 'Experience Otter Creek' event on May 17 from 9 a.m. to noon where a red-tailed hawk and an owl are featured at 10 a.m. plus IDEM demonstrates electrofishing at 11 a.m. with a bounce house and free trees offered by Ouabache Land Conservancy. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Mike Braun signed an Indiana budget bill on Tuesday that may change Vigo County’s relationship with mental health services provider Hamilton Center — the law’s Section 127 bans funds to providers with employees earning more than $400k. The Vigo County Council discussed the measure at Tuesday’s meeting, and its impact on local mental health services will be seen as the new rules take effect. Tribune-Star
