CULTURE NEWS

  • ZZ Top will perform at The Mill on Aug. 29, and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. April 24 (via TheMillTerreHaute.com).  Tribune-Star

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Regional Employment Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Terre Haute Convention Center, 800 Wabash Ave. Sponsors include the Chamber of Commerce, West Central Indiana Partnership and WorkOne Western Indiana — with support from city and county development groups.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Novelist Rebecca Lehmann will discuss her new novel at the ISU Bash series talk on campus Thursday, sharing insights from her diverse writing background.  Tribune-Star
  • The Indiana Youth Institute hosted a presentation on child well-being Tuesday in Terre Haute where community leaders and youth-serving professionals reviewed data from the newly launched Indiana Kids Count Data Book. The event aimed to guide action for local youth based on the interactive dashboard and report.  WTHI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Terre Haute is offering free tree saplings at City Hall, 17 Harding Ave, during regular business hours this week in honor of Arbor Week. The city partners with its urban forester to boost the urban canopy & improve air quality for the community.  WTHI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Department of Transportation is raising awareness during National Work Zone Awareness Week to remind drivers to slow down near construction areas. Officials say safer driving in work zones helps protect both motorists and roadway workers.  WTHI-TV
  • Gov. Mike Braun announced that nominations for the 2026 Century and Half Century Business Awards are now open. The awards honor long-standing Indiana businesses that have operated 50 or 100 years and will be celebrated later this year at the Statehouse (eligibility requires continuous operation in one line of work).  WTHI-TV
  • Indiana's sales tax on gasoline is set to rise by 6.1 cents per gallon in May if Gov. Mike Braun does not extend his temporary suspension, state officials say + the rate is determined monthly by the statewide retail gas cost average.  Tribune-Star

HEALTH NEWS

  • Gov. Mike Braun launched a new healthcare chatbot for Indiana's All Payer Claims Database to give Hoosiers interactive, guided responses and consolidated cost data from multiple state sources. The tool is available 24/7 to help residents, researchers, and providers access information on procedure costs.  WTHI-TV

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Thrive West Central held a ribbon cutting for the Graham-Cunningham development project in Seelyville on Tuesday as part of the Homes for the Future program. The project adds 18 single-family homes with aging-in-place features and expanded streets (supported by ARPA funding) for improved community living.  WTHI-TV
