The Eugene V. Debs Museum — the historic home of labor leader Eugene V.

Debs — will host a service on April 27 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to honor workers who lost their lives from workplace injuries. The program includes music, remarks from local union and community leaders, readings of names and proclamations from local government, light refreshments and a museum tour.

A Terre Haute native was named as one of the winners of this year’s Rose-Hulman Alumni Awards along with three other Wabash Valley natives and members of the school’s faculty, staff, and student body.

City and county officials—led by Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun—are urging residents to use recycling programs provided by Vigo County Solid Waste Management; the three main drop-off locations recycled over twelve tons of cardboard in one month.

Indiana lawmakers passed a Senate bill that would add judges in busy counties while removing courts from smaller ones (removing superior courts in nine counties and circuit courts in two), a change that may slow down civil and criminal cases.

Lawmakers will meet in committee on Monday to discuss the bill after the House rejected the Senate changes.

Farmers are using large, slow equipment on local roads as planting season starts.

Officials say drivers must slow down and allow safe space—farmers need room when machines move at 20 to 30 miles per hour and drivers should avoid no pass zones near intersections.

Farmersburg’s town council voted to change stop sign placements at several intersections based on the police department’s recommendation.

The street department will update the signs soon, and police will focus on driver education—without issuing citations—as residents adjust to the new setup.
