- ➤ Justin Cline, a Western grad, had his Eagle Scout project named project of the year after volunteers helped him build beds donated to Black Pine Animal Sanctuary—an honor that shows his commitment to community service. He said he did not think his efforts were that significant. Tribune-Star
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Clay County firefighter Roy A. Smith, a Posey Volunteer Fire Department member, died after his vehicle hit a tree early Saturday on State Road 42 in Posey Township while he was on a water rescue call — officials say that poor road conditions may have contributed and the investigation is ongoing. WTHI-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Troopers are investigating a Friday night road-rage incident on Interstate 70 east of Terre Haute after a driver was shot near the 16-mile marker at approximately 9:55 p.m. A flood watch is in effect through Sunday morning as heavy rain is expected to raise river levels and cause flooding in low-lying areas, including near the Wabash River. - ➤ Vigo County Commissioners extended the travel watch until 11 a.m. today—officials in several counties, including Owen, issued travel advisories as flooding forced multiple water rescues Saturday morning. WTHI-TV
