- ➤ Ryan Schroeder has been named provost and vice president of academic affairs at Indiana State University after a national search attracted broad community interest. University President Mike Godard made the appointment today. Tribune-Star
- ➤ Indiana State University students earned top honors at the Indiana Academy of Science meeting in Indianapolis today. Brady Verdon won first place in the microbes, molecules + medicine category while Jetta Harmon and Dana Ping took second in the science of matter, systems + environment category. WTHI-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Vigo County Oversight Board is nearing its deadline to recommend extra funding for the school district’s facility plan, and Council President Steve Ellis opposes more money, urging the district to use its 150 million bonding capacity instead. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Vigo County Health Department is urging residents to dispose of old tires that collect standing water and serve as mosquito breeding spots for West Nile virus. Tire drop-offs will be by appointment from April 1 through May 4. WTHI-TV
