  • A section of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt returns to Terre Haute for the first time in over thirty years. An opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. April 23 at the Vigo County History Center — featuring speakers and community leaders.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Members of the public at a Thursday Vigo County Oversight Board meeting voiced concerns about the endorsed school consolidation plan and heard a superintendent’s report on 2025 finances and a facilities plan — including his request for county help on high school projects.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana State University partnered with WorkOne Western Indiana to offer apprenticeships for employees pursuing early childhood education credentials at the Jan McCarthy Early Childhood Education Center — the program provides partial wage reimbursement as workers complete on-the-job training.  WTHI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A severe thunderstorm watch remains valid until midnight for Terre Haute and 26 other counties, so residents should stay alert for severe weather. A unique sycamore tree (nicknamed the space tree for its unusual past) is drawing attention near Fulton County Public Library.  Tribune-Star
