  • The Red Cross is hosting its annual Giving Day on Wednesday and seeks volunteers, donations & blood to help local hospitals. Residents can assist with running centers and transporting supplies for patient care.  WTHI-TV
  • Terre Haute will soon adapt four tiny lots into pocket parks using a federal grant ($177,823 from the Inflation Reduction Act) to create green spaces for residents.  Tribune-Star
  • Spring cleaning boosts mood and aids local programs as drop-offs at Terre Haute and across the Wabash Valley support efforts like the Excel Center *by reducing clutter and stress*, experts say.  WTHI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has launched its Spring Art Exhibition at Moench Hall and Myers Technology Building, featuring work from 23 artists from Indiana and beyond through May 29. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vigo County fourth graders learned about racing at Sugar Grove and Rio Grande Elementary in a free Indianapolis 500 Education Program session — an engaging look at the 500 Festival that connects classroom lessons with racing excitement.  WTHI-TV
  • The Vigo County School Board is nearing a decision on extending the operating referendum, which funds teacher wages, transportation, protection officers, nurses and behavior interventionists. The board plans to present the proposal on the general election ballot later this year.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana State University and Ivy Tech Community College signed a memorandum to use ISU’s Jan McCarthy Early Childhood Education Center as an apprenticeship site for Ivy Tech students pursuing careers in early childhood education. The partnership supports Indiana’s Registered Apprenticeship program through the Office of Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeship.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana State University’s College of Arts and Sciences is hosting the Economics and Ethics panel titled The Crossroads of Faith, Politics, and Economics from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at United Campus Ministries (321 N.   • The Parke Heritage boys basketball team defeated Linton 66 to 53 for the Class 2A Southport Semistate championship game Saturday night in Indianapolis. They will face Westview at Gainbridge Fieldhouse next Saturday for the state title.  Tribune-Star
