ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The 7th Day Assembly Church at 2001 Wheeler Ave. partially collapsed from an early morning fire on Friday as firefighters arrived at 1:55 a.m. and saw visible smoke and flames.  Tribune-Star

CULTURE NEWS

  • State Sen. Greg Goode honored THSO artistic director Dr. David Bowden on the Senate floor in Indianapolis on March 21 for his decades of leading orchestras in Indiana—Bowden will retire on June 30 after his final performance on May 3 at Tilson Auditorium at Indiana State University.  Tribune-Star
  • The Indiana State Museum is urging families to try spring break adventures at 12 museum sites across Indiana — including an after-hours event at Angel Mounds where visitors will learn about its sacred history from Native descendants — to offer affordable local getaways.  WTHI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • An Indiana law passed in 2023 required school boards to livestream their meetings beginning July 1 — the law also applies to county, city, town and township governing bodies.  Tribune-Star
  • Terre Haute residents are invited to a joint town hall meeting hosted by Rep. Tonya Pfaff and Mayor Brandon Sakbun next week at Local Laborers 204 at Fourth and Poplar streets to discuss public policy and hear updates from the Statehouse and Mayor’s Office as the forum begins at 6:30 p.m. on March 27.  WTHI-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Terre Haute North boys basketball team held a brief pep rally at Lost Creek Elementary on Friday as they headed to New Castle for today's semistate game against Lawrence North at 10 a.m.  Tribune-Star
  • County commissioners announced Thursday morning at Fowler Park that a $50,000 matching grant from the Indiana Destination Development Corporation will fund Indiana’s first championship disc golf course—construction is underway with a soft opening set for fall and a grand opening planned for next spring.  WTHI-TV
