CULTURE NEWS

  • Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau earned statewide recognition from the Indiana Tourism Association for its Terredise Initiative today — an honor that highlights its creative approach to promoting our inviting destination. Executive director Karen Dyer said the program showcases a fun and welcoming spirit.  Tribune-Star
  • The Bejeweled Band will perform Girl Pop Night at Brazil's Walnut Theatre on Saturday, March 28, bringing tunes from Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter & Chappell Roan as part of Amplify The Arts' series for affordable live entertainment in Brazil and the Wabash Valley.  Tribune-Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indiana lawmakers passed a new rule requiring that college degree programs that do not meet income thresholds must obtain approval from the Commission for Higher Education — this measure could lead to eliminating low earning programs if schools do not improve outcomes.  Tribune-Star
  • Nearly 50 elementary, middle, and high school teams from Indiana, Georgia, and Washington competed at the Hulman Center in a drone piloting and coding competition today. The contest tested skills in navigating obstacle courses, coding, and teamwork to mirror careers in aviation and engineering.  WTHI-TV
  • Indiana State University will host Cookies and Canvas on April 27 at the Cunningham Memorial Library Events Center to honor Chief of Staff Rex Kendall — tickets cost $35 and proceeds fund the Rex Kendall Memorial Scholarship while attendees paint his iconic bow tie on the state.  WTHI-TV

  • The Vigo County Alcoholic Beverage Board voted 2-2 on Monday, Mar. 16 to recommend denying a renewal of Verve nightclub owner Connie Wrin's liquor license. Wrin will appear before the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission on Tuesday, Apr. 7 to decide her bar's permit status.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana DNR established a permanent invasive carp harvest permit in December 2025 that now lets licensed anglers manage invasive species in local waters + aiding local control efforts.  Tribune-Star
