ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire at Wendy's on South U.S. 41 in Terre Haute is expected to force an extended closure, the Fire Department said+ residents should plan alternative dining options until repairs are complete.  Tribune-Star
  • Terre Haute firefighters responded Tuesday at a Wendy's on South U.S. Highway 41 after heavy smoke and flames were seen near Haute City Center; the restaurant will remain closed for the day with no injuries reported.  WTHI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Monday evening, the Terre Haute Convention Center hosted the official book launch of Heartland, a book celebrating Larry Bird’s influential years at Indiana State University; bestselling author Keith O’Brien and members of the Sycamores team highlighted a memorable 1978-79 game decision during the event.  Tribune-Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Beginning Monday, March 9, the Indiana Department of Transportation will restrict U.S. 150 to one lane each way east of the Wabash River for pavement replacement and to add new traffic signals & pedestrian crosswalks at Riverside Road near the Vigo County Courthouse.  Tribune-Star

HEALTH NEWS

  • Union Health appointed Robin McCallister as chief nursing officer effective March 1; she now directs nursing operations at the hospital.  Tribune-Star
