  • Catholic Charities Terre Haute hosts a Mardi Gras dinner celebration at Ryves Youth Center Family Night today, starting at 4:30 p.m. The menu features bourbon chicken + red beans and rice, king cakes, and beignets.  Tribune-Star

  • Concrete was poured at West Union Cafe and construction will begin Monday to rebuild a larger + handicap accessible space with a new ice cream counter; the owners aim to open by Easter.  WTHI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rose-Hulman's Dean Renee Rogge is set to join Stanford's Global Faculty Training program in 2027 to work with industry experts and educators (GFIT) on boosting high-impact health technology initiatives.  Tribune-Star
  • Indiana State University president Mike Godard said Tuesday that the school's endowment has more than doubled from $69.1 million to $152.1 million since 2018, providing funds for scholarships, practical learning and campus improvements.  Tribune-Star
  • The Terre Haute Children's Museum will host its sixth annual Son Plus Fun One Glow Party this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for boys up to 12 and their female caregivers, offering winter experiments, party bus rides, crafts, and photo opportunities (tickets cost $45 per couple with additional tickets at $10 each).  WTHI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city began its revamp of Deming Park pool in the first week of 2026 — awarding Garmong Construction Services the contract in December 2025 with a bid of about $3.83 million. Mayor Brandon Sakbun said the pool will be closed this summer while the project is set to finish in 2027.  Tribune-Star
