- ➤ Special Olympics Indiana held its signature Polar Plunge Saturday outside Indiana State University Student Recreation Center, where 130 participants raised $28,575. Rose-Hulman football led team fundraising at $6,757 and Brian Graham earned $1,138 while Jodi Moan received the Judy Campbell award. Tribune-Star
- ➤ The Wabash Valley Community Foundation will host a free breakfast seminar on agriculture with presentations by Purdue Extension and Indiana Estate and Elder Law for farm families from Clay, Sullivan, and Vigo counties on Friday, March 6 at the Buell Center in Clay City; attendees must register by Friday. - ➤ Scooter's Coffee in Terre Haute offers The Viking sparkling float through Feb. 28, donating one dollar per drink to West Vigo High School. Customers can visit the 1617 South Third Street location (supporting local education) to try the special drink. WTHI-TV

- ➤ Saint Benedict Catholic Church is hosting a concert on Wednesday, Feb. 25 to raise $174,000 for stained glass restoration. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a wine and charcuterie reception in Hellmann Hall (at Ninth and Walnut) and a 7:30 p.m. concert featuring a local string quartet. WTHI-TV

- ➤ New data from the Indiana Youth Institute shows Indiana kids rank 25th nationally in overall well-being, with education and economic scores rising to 11th while health lags at 30th. A local data presentation in Terre Haute on April 21 will review the findings (and point to steps for improving well-being). WTHI-TV
- ➤ Indiana Youth Institute released its 2026 Indiana KIDS COUNT Data Book on Feb. 16, showing Indiana ranks 25th overall in child well-being, 31st in Family & Community, 30th in Health, 11th in Economic Well-Being, and 11th in Education. Tribune-Star

- ➤ The Indiana State Department of Agriculture reopened its free soil sampling program as part of the Mississippi River Basin initiative with the Gulf Hypoxia Program to help farmers make informed fertilizer choices. Applications are accepted online from Monday, Feb. 16 until Wednesday, April 8 or until funds run out. WTHI-TV

- ➤ Terre Haute has launched Project Fix Em, a pilot program offering affordable spay or neuter services for pet owners. The Mayor's Office covers $75 of a $100 fee in zip codes (47804 and 47807), with clinics starting February 2026 at the Terre Haute Humane Society. WTHI-TV
- ➤ A commercial turkey flock in Sullivan County was hit by bird flu — the first outbreak in southwestern Indiana in a year. The owner reported many turkeys died overnight last week and officials confirmed the case Saturday. Tribune-Star
