Vermillion County Commissioners are offering a raffle for a hunting lease that grants exclusive rights to 67 acres east of Newport’s walking trail — residents can apply online for $20 until March 27 and if selected, pay $1,000 to benefit local non-profits.

Local leaders plan to honor Carl Ross by working to establish a new memorial road near Lost Creek.

Ross, a coal miner, janitor and church trustee, was remembered for his bravery and selflessness by family and friends.
