- ➤ Vermillion County Commissioners are offering a raffle for a hunting lease that grants exclusive rights to 67 acres east of Newport’s walking trail — residents can apply online for $20 until March 27 and if selected, pay $1,000 to benefit local non-profits. WTHI-TV
- ➤ Local leaders plan to honor Carl Ross by working to establish a new memorial road near Lost Creek. Ross, a coal miner, janitor and church trustee, was remembered for his bravery and selflessness by family and friends. Tribune-Star
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Terre Haute Casino Resort Foundation pledged up to $100 million to support a $222.2 million plan for a new Vigo high school over the next 20 to 25 years — a project that promises a lasting boost for local education. Tribune-Star
